Your Favorite Piece of Home.

Since 1963.

The story of Alpenrose is inseparably tied to our region and to the heartfelt love of home shared by our founders, Fini and Oswald. Since 1963, our hotel has stood in Schruns, now run by the Mäser family in its third generation. With traditional roots and a passion for the exceptional, Alpenrose has become a lively meeting place for guests and locals alike. A natural source of vacation feelings and your favorite piece of home.

Fini and Oswald Mäser.

When asked why Alpenrose is what it is today, our answer is simple: there are two reasons, and their names are Fini and Oswald. Fini, a refugee girl from South Tyrol, became the youngest innkeeper in Vorarlberg at just 23 years old when she opened a mountain guesthouse in Schruns. Visionary as she was, she wanted more. In 1963 she bought a small plot of land, where Alpenrose soon rose from the ground.

Fini was the visionary. Oswald was the craftsman, known for rolling up his sleeves and getting things done. Together they were an unbeatable team, laying the cornerstone for Alpenrose.

In 1963 Alpenrose made history as the very first hotel in Vorarlberg with guest rooms featuring private bathrooms.

The Sources of Growth

Monika and Karl Mäser.

When Monika and Karl took over the hotel decades ago, they shaped its continuous growth with courage and foresight. But hosting was far from their only passion. Karl is an avid hunter and sometimes invites curious guests to join him. Meanwhile, Monika keeps a sharp eye out as well—not for red deer, but for the perfect details that bring atmosphere to the hotel. From flowers and fabrics to authentic treasures from the region, she has given Alpenrose its soul.

The Next Chapter

Tanja and Raphael.

Since 2024, siblings Raphael and Tanja have carried on the true spirit of Alpenrose, together with their dedicated team. With the handover came a new concept, deeply rooted in the past and the existing house. As Tanja and Raphael put it: our house rests on three pillars. We offer our guests their favorite piece of home, we are the natural source of relaxation, and we are a lively place for guests and locals.

Tanja

I grew up in the hotel with my brother Raphael. As a child, I even sat at the hotel bar in my pajamas. The closeness to our guests is something I still cherish today. I simply love being around people and I do my job with passion and conviction. What matters most to me? That each of us responds to guests individually and gives them a true feeling of home and belonging - just like I had in my childhood.

Raphael

What matters most to me is genuine hospitality and a sense of community in a relaxed atmosphere. I want to create a space where staff, guests, and locals come together naturally. A vibrant place where people connect, share joy, and simply feel at ease. A place where you, whether as a guest or an employee, can be exactly who you are. And where we show you, in an authentic way, what we love most: our mountains, our nature, and the people of our region.
